Police arrest suspect in viral assault incident video in Eastern Region

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect involved in a viral assault video that occurred in the Eastern Region.
Dawuda Sumaila, a tanker driver’s mate, was apprehended on 9th April 2025 following an intelligence-led operation.
The arrest follows a viral video, which showed Sumaila physically assaulting a young man with a machete.
The incident, which occurred on 4th April 2025 at Anyinam, caused public outrage after the video gained significant traction on social media.

The Ghana Police Service, through an intelligence-led operation, on 9th April 2025, arrested a suspect seen in a viral video physically assaulting a young man with a machete by a fuel tanker.
The suspect, Dawuda Sumaila who is a tanker driver’s mate is currently in police custody assisting investigations into the incident.
The incident took place on Friday, 4th April 2025 at Anyinam in the Eastern Region.
