The High Commission of the Republic of Ghana in South Africa has released the official list of the second batch of evacuees scheduled to return home, even as registration for the voluntary repatriation exercise has been temporarily suspended to allow for the processing and verification of the large number of applications already received.

According to a notice issued to the Ghanaian community in South Africa on June 1, 2026, over 1,500 Ghanaians have registered for the repatriation exercise so far, and the verification and processing of these applications is currently underway.

The temporary suspension of new registrations took effect from 2nd June 2026.

The High Commission assured interested Ghanaians who have not yet registered that the repatriation exercise has not ended, and the date for the next phase of new registrations will be communicated in due course.

Second batch evacuation on June 6

The official list of evacuees scheduled to travel on Saturday, June 6, 2026, has been published, naming hundreds of Ghanaians approved for the upcoming repatriation flight.

The document outlines the arrangements for approved applicants.

All individuals scheduled for evacuation on Saturday, June 6, 2026, are required to report to the High Commission on the evening of Friday, June 5, 2026, for pre-departure arrangements, verification and briefing.

The High Commission has requested that individuals whose names appear on the approved evacuation list but no longer intend to travel notify the mission no later than 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Parents or guardians travelling with children are required to bring all necessary travel documentation, including consent letters where applicable, Road-to-Health Cards, and child weighing cards.

Travellers issued with Emergency Travel Certificates will receive their documents at the airport on the day of departure.

The High Commission expressed appreciation for the cooperation, patience and understanding of the Ghanaian community in ensuring a well-coordinated exercise.
