The Central Regional Director of Education, Dr. Dufie Juliet Otami, has called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to increase the number of children enrolled in schools across the region.
According to her, while significant process has been made in addressing the shortage of teachers, the next major priority is to ensure that more children are enrolled in schools and have access to quality education.
Dr. Otami made the call during the engagement in Cape Coast, where she emphasized the need for stakeholders to work together to achieve the enrollment target.
I want us to work collaboratively so that we have a lot of our children in our schools.
And we must begin from this year.
And prof is ready to support us.
She explained that the Central Region had received adequate support in the provision of teachers, particularly in Cape Coast, from the Basic level through to the senior High School level.
As for teachers, Cape Coast, there’s enough teachers.
The supply of teachers for Cape Coast is yielding results, from the Basic School to the Senior High School.
Dr. Otami stated, she credited the Ghana Education Service(GES) for it support in addressing the teachers related challenges, now the attention must shift towards getting more children into classrooms.
And so for teachers, GES has helped in that direction.
But the next is our children enrolling more in our schools.
And that is one of our targets we need to do.
She added, Dr. Otami further stressed the importance of beginning the enrolment drive immediately saying stakeholders must work collectively to ensure that children who are currently out of the school are brought into formal education system.
She expressed optimism that with the commitment of stakeholders and the support of professor, the region could make significant progress in improving school enrollment.
The call forms part of effort to improve access to education in the Central region and ensure that more children benefit from the educational opportunities available to them.
