I released ‘Yeeko’ in January 2021 to sweep more awards next year – Okyeame Kwame brags
Songwriter, Creative Director and Entrepreneur, Okyeame Kwame has revealed that he purposely decided to release ‘Yeeko’ hit song in January 2021 in order to sweep more awards next year.
“We finished recording Yeeko last year December but the only reason why we didn’t release the song for the Christmas celebrations is that we didn’t want to miss the VGMA calendar,” he said.
“VGMA consider songs released from January to January then by January the song might not be a hit yet so we didn’t want to waste it because we saw Yeeko as a very good song,” he added.
Talking to Amansan Krakye on the Kastle Drive show via Kastle FM in Cape Coast, Okyeame Kwame said that he planned with Kuami Eugene to release ‘Yeeko’ this year in order to become a hit song and be ready to grab awards in 2022.
He continued “So we both decided that we’ll wait and release the song in the first week of January so that it will have a whole year to develop and sweep some awards in 2022.
“So that’s why we released the song in January but when the parliamentarians were fighting in Parliament we had already recorded and released the song,” he ended.
