In an interview on Kastle FM with Amansan Krakye, AMG Armani said that Highlife being a Ghanaian genre doesn’t mean every musician must do Highlife music.
“Highlife is there and we have those who do Highlife but that doesn’t mean every musician in Ghana should do Highlife,” he opined
He said “It’s about preferences and you do what you prefer doing so I don’t think Amapiano coming to Ghana will collapse our Highlife music.
He added “Highlife has been there before we were all born so Amapiano is here to do its own thing and after it will fade away.
“A lot of genres have been in the system but Highlife is ours as Ghanaians so we can never do without it so that’s what I think,” he told the host.
Amapiano is a style of house music that emerged in South Africa in 2012 and it’s gradually taking over in Ghana currently.
Amapiano is a hybrid of deep house, jazz, and lounge music characterized by synths, airy pads, and wide percussive basslines.
