Cape Coast North NDC youth wing launches welfare package for members
The leadership of the youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Cape Coast Constituency has launched a welfare scheme for its members.
The leadership of the youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Cape Coast Constituency has launched a welfare scheme for its members.
According to the youth wing, the move has become necessary because of the hard economic realities Ghanaians continue to face under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumiah-led government.
Speaking at the launch of the scheme, the Cape Coast North Youth Organizer, Godfred Onso-Nyameyeh, called on its members to take advantage of the scheme, as the leadership of the party wants to lessen the burden on its members.
He says, “The welfare package has been designed in such a way that it is going to be a pool from which our members can request assistance to help their businesses and their day-to-day activities, which will ultimately improve their standards of living.
A parliamentary aspirant who contested and lost the just-ended parliamentary primaries, Charles Walker, donated GHC 10,000 as part of the seed money for the welfare. Mr. Walker believes this will energize the youth to go all out to help the party maintain the Cape Coast North seat and also win massively for John Mahama in the 2024 elections.
The youth organiser, Godfred Onso-Nyameyeh, also used the opportunity to launch a Youth Working Committee to spearhead the affairs of the youth.
In his remarks, the patron for the Youth Wing, who is also the Vice Chairman of Cape Coast North Constituency, Mr. Appoh, urged the youth to come together to fight for the interests of the party in order to win the election in 2024 and to also maintain the Cape Coast North parliamentary seat, which is currently held by Dr. Kwamena Mintah Nyarku.
He further urged the youth to put all differences aside in the collective interest of the party.
Also speaking at the program was the Deputy National Youth Organizer, Osman Ayariga. Mr. Ayariga also highlighted the importance of the welfare scheme and congratulated the Cape Coast North Youth organizer and his deputies for such an initiative.
According to him, the trailblazing act by the organizers will spur other constituencies to do the same.
Mr. Ayariga said the national body of the youth wing is also planning to institute a similar package, but that has become challenging, and so for the Cape Coast North Youth Wing to surmount such a hurdle and launch it is utterly impressive and commendable. He further urged them to continue in their effort to canvass for votes for the party.
