An address was made on the issue of women empowerment, that the country needs to focus on the growth and development of women in accordance with leadership duties and the role in the public sphere.
In a press conference on Monday, Miss Vivian Gassor, spokesperson for the Concerned Women’s Group said, “Even though we would have wished, as women, and indeed, as a country, to have gone pass this stage, we nonetheless believe that some good progress is being made, and still hope for an improvement.”
“This in our believe and estimation is not a mere wishful desire just for the sake of it, but the data is undisputed everywhere, that all societies that has been consciously inclusive, harnessing the talents and energies of all their citizens have witnessed development and progress at a faster pace.”
“We hereby call on all women and women groups to stand up to be counted in the face of this creeping cloud of darkness intended to engulf the progress that has been made so far” .
