GRA, security block GH¢3.6m revenue loss

Joint operations of the Custom Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), National Security and the military have intercepted four trucks carrying diverted goods, with GH¢3.6 million worth of revenue due the state

The Commissioner-General of GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, who disclosed this to the media in Accra yesterday, said the team carried out two operations last Saturday during which several trucks were intercepted with uncustomed goods moved from the port as transit good, but were being diverted into the local market without the payment of the right customs duties.

He said in the first instance, “we had a joint operation led by Custom Division of GRA and National Security.”

“We intercepted and impounded four trucks in a warehouse in Tema carrying diverted goods, which is actually cooking oil.
