I don’t deserve a statue for winning VGMA Songwriter of the Year award for the fourth time – Kofi Kinaata
‘Things Fall Apart’ hitmaker, Kofi Kinaata has disclosed to Amansan Krakye that he doesn’t deserve a statue for being a four-time winner of the Songwriter of the Year plaque at the Ghana Music Awards.
“I’m not sure that I have gotten to the level where I deserve a statue even though I have won the VGMA Songwriter of the Year award four times,” he remarked.
He added “There are a lot of people who deserve statue but have not gotten any so let’s be patient for them to be given some before”.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Kastle FM in Cape Coast, Kofi Kinaata born Martin King Arthur said Ephraim Amu and the likes don’t even have statue for their contribution to the music industry in Ghana.
He told the host “It’s not all about statue but leaving some lasting memories with your song so that in future you can be remembered for what you’ve done.
“There are the likes of Ephraim Amu who have composed songs which have lasted for decades but we didn’t come to meet them so it’s not all about statue,” he ended on the Kastle Drive show.
