The Ghana Union of Traders Association has suspended its strike action.

This is contained in a press release signed by the General Secretary of the Association, Alpha A. Shaban.

“He [the President] then called for setting up of a working committee made up of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, National Security and GUTA, to swiftly come out with pragmatic measures to solve the challenges.”

The President has also indicated that most of the Association’s recommendations will be factored into the ongoing IMF discussion.

GUTA has thus called on traders who had participated in the strike action to reopen their shops today, as the Association’s leadership continues to pursue the process for an immediate solution.
