Kofi Jumah leaks Kufuor’s secret on Akufo-Addo’s presidential ambition
Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa Constituency has leaked a privileged conversation he had with his mentor and former President Kufuor in the lead up to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries in 2007.
The firebrand astute Ghanaian politician, Maxwell Kofi Jumah aka Kofi Ghana was twice appointed by former President John Agyekum Kufuor under his administration, first as Mayor of Kumasi and subsequently as Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
In an exclusive interview with Chris Aggrey on Kastle FM 90.3MHz in Cape Coast, Maxwell Kofi Jumah revealed that former President Kufuor told him in a privileged conversation before the 2007 NPP presidential primaries that if for nothing at all the family that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo comes from deserve to be honoured.
“I remember going to the house of President Kufuor to have a meeting with him which I think it’s a privileged conversation i had with him but I know he wouldn’t mind. I asked him that papa you’re my role model and we have 17 aspirants so who would you suggest that I support.
“President Kufuor told me that all the aspirants are good but he said he preferred Alan Kyerematen because he’s very good when it comes to the analysis of issues. And then he mentioned Nana Akufo-Addo and he added this to it that if for nothing at all the family that Nana Addo comes from deserve to be honoured.”
It is worthy to note that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the son of former President Edward Akufo-Addo and has two maternal uncle’s amongst the Founding Fathers of present day Ghana namely; Joseph Boakye Danquah and William Ofori Atta.
