Lamine Yamal yet to return to training and set to miss Barcelona’s trip to Newcastle
Mixed news on the injury front
Lamine Yamal is yet to return to training with Barcelona and looks almost certain to miss Thursday’s clash with Newcastle in the Champions League.
Barcelona’s teenager has been ruled out of action after picking up an issue on international duty with Spain and missed the 6-0 win over Valencia on Sunday in La Liga.
Yamal is still not back in training with the team and is not now expected to fly out with the squad for the game. However, Frenkie de Jong has been back on the training pitch and should make Hansi Flick’s list.
Barcelona made light work of Valencia without Yamal on Sunday, with Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski all scoring doubles in an emphatic win.
The club’s attackers will also fancy their chances against Newcastle. Marcus Rashford has five goals against the Magpies in his career, Ferran Torres has four in two games (for Manchester City), while Raphinha scored twice against the Magpies during his time at Leeds.
