Ministry of Health suspends nursing college principal over unapproved admissions and programmes

The Ministry of Health has suspended the Principal of the College of Nursing, Nkanchina, Fredrick Anaba, with immediate effect pending an investigation.

The suspension was announced in a press release issued by the Ministry on 12 March 2026.

According to the statement, the action follows concerns about the 2025/2026 admissions process at the institution.
The Ministry explained that a query was first issued on 19 February 2026 requesting clarification on the admissions conducted by the college.
After reviewing the response submitted by the Principal, the Ministry decided that a full administrative investigation was necessary to establish the facts surrounding the situation.
The allegations include the over-admission of students beyond the approved quota and the introduction of academic programmes that had not received official authorization from the Ministry.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strict compliance with admission quotas and approved programmes across all health training institutions.
