Paris 2024Q: Our qualification route is not easy – Black Queens head coach

Head coach of the senior women’s national team Nora Hauptle believes Ghana has a tough route in their attempts to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Head coach of the senior women’s national team Nora Hauptle believes Ghana has a tough route in their attempts to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Since the introduction of the games, the Black Queens have never made an appearance and the current crop of players are determined to make history in the next edition to be staged in Paris.

However, they would have to do it the hard way as they could face two of Africa’s representatives at the 2023 FIFA World Cup should they overcome the challenge of facing Guinea.

Speaking to the press ahead of Friday’s first-leg encounter against Guinea, Hauptle admitted the difficulty of the challenges ahead but believes there is still a chance.

“When you look at the draw, I think the first steps are very makeable,” she said.

“Somehow, we are going to face Zambia and Morocco. They are part of the World Cup which is beginning in two weeks.

“So, it will not be an easy route but am pretty convinced with the quality of players we have and a lot of matches, we have the chance to qualify.”

In her first two games as the head coach of the side, Hauptle oversaw victories against Benin and Senegal in preparatory games ahead of the Olympic Games qualifier.
