There is no food shortage in Ghana due to the success of the Planting for Food and Jobs (PF&J) initiative, he said on the New Day show with Johnnie Hughes on TV3 Thursday August 11.
The former Member of Parliament for Kwadaso said “people wrongfully say there is food shortage, there is no food shortage in Ghana. If you look at all the sectors, the agric sector stands out as the sector which is doing well.”
The sector, he said, grew by 4.9 per cent in 2019 to 8.1percent in 2021.
The “Planting for Food and Jobs is a good success,” he stressed.
Dr Afriyie Akoto further said the Akufo-Addo government popularized the application of fertilizer in Ghana.
When the government took over in 2017, he said, fertilizer application was 8kilograme per hectare but currently, it is doing 25Kilogramme per hectare.
“We have made significant gains in fertilizer supply, we have popularized fertilizer,” he said.
