Method Man is ‘not ok’ after death of Wu-Tang Clan legend Oliver ‘Power’ Grant
Meanwhile, Wu-Tang Clan has been nominated for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
During a game of chess, two of the Wu-Tang Clan founding members gave him the name “Power” because that is the kind of force it takes to get success for the team.
Grant is also an older brother of Wu-Tang’s affiliate Killarmy member Killa Sin.
In 2008, Grant discontinued the Wu Wear line which was being counterfeited and sold online with the “Wu-Tang Brand”.
His contribution brought in their best moments such as the 1993 debut “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)”, which revolutionized East Coast hip-hop, the historic 2021 live performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, etc.

Method Man is mourning the death of the Wu-Tang Clan executive producer, who was a major player both for the iconic group’s music and its business empire, at the age of 52.
The group confirmed the tragic news on its official Instagram account, as they simply wrote: “Rest in Power, Power.”
His death was reported by Hot 97, but no cause of death has been announced.
Method Man shared a photo of them together along with heartbroken emojis, and wrote: “Paradise my Brother safe Travels!! #pookie #power (sic)”
He added: “Bruh I am not OK.”
Raekwon wrote: “POWER we been everywhere … now you everywhere! the most high is merciful love you.”
And Gza said: “We couldn’t have done it without him.
“Wu wouldn’t have come to fruition without Power. His passing is a profound loss to us all. My deepest condolences to the fam.”
In 2011, he opened up about his role in expanding the band’s output.
He explained to Complex: “Well, you know, at the end of the day, we are all interested in fashion.
“Initially, when we started doing the music, my interests just came from trying to figure out a way to diversify what we was doing, based on the fact that you know, I wasn’t a rapper or a producer or anything like that.”
He noted at the time that the iconic design was “all him”, although he did have a team who helped realise his ambitions.
He added: “That was all me. I had a crew of people who worked with me and helped me achieve and do the things that I wanted to do. But that was all my direction, based on how I saw it.
“At the end of the day, it was just something I made for us, for them to project to the people.
“They never really actively took a part in it like that, although they were influential in the styling of what it was, just from being who they are and me knowing them as my friends, and now, my business partners.”
