Barcelona are on the verge of finalising a blockbuster €80m (£69m) deal for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, but the England international’s impending arrival will not affect the club’s plans for Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford.

The La Liga champions are set for a major attacking reshuffle under Hansi Flick, with club executives actively working to secure both forwards.

Gordon is scheduled to undergo his medical in Spain today after Deco swiftly concluded negotiations with the Magpies.

Gordon is scheduled to undergo his medical in Spain today after Deco swiftly concluded negotiations with the Magpies.
The only remaining hurdle is the deal’s financial structure.

Manchester United are holding out for the €30m (£26m) purchase option established in the original loan agreement and have ruled out another temporary switch.

Deco is currently exploring flexible payment structures, including a loan with a mandatory obligation to buy in 2027 or deferred instalments, to satisfy La Liga’s financial regulations.
