The Ghana Education Service [GES] is rolling out targeted and intensifying effort to drive equity and enhance learning outcomes for all students in the central region through deliberate and targeted policy interventions.
The primary goal of inclusive education is to ensure that every child regardless of their background, physical ability, or learning challenges has equal access to quality schooling, tailored support and the opportunity to reach their full potential within unified system.
Dr. Julliet Duffie Otami, the Central Regional director of education, emphasized these measures while speaking at the school of graduate studies auditorium at the University of Cape Coast edition of the 8-year development plan consultation on Cape Coast.
She noted that, putting the inclusive education policy into action remains a top priority to guarantee that every student gets a meaningful experience.
She also highlighted the ongoing implementation of inclusive education policy as a core driver of meaningful participation for every learner.
According to Dr. Duffie Otami , these key initiatives include support system specifically tailored for leaners with special educational needs, alongside providing essentials assistive devices through appropriate channels to ensure tools and policies to make direct impact in the classrooms.
The service is also prioritizing continues training for teachers, equipping them to effectively identify and respond to divers learning requirements.
Beyond special needs education, the Regional Directorate is advancing inclusive through dedicated work of the Girl-Child Education Unit.
Dr. Duffie Otami noted the unit play a pivotal role in promoting gender equity, supporting girl retention and boosting actively participation in schools.
By actively addressing structural and social barriers that limit educational opportunities for young girls, the GES aim to secure a more equitable learning environment across the region.
Through these combined initiatives, guidance and counseling supports, the directorate remains committed to ensuring that no girl-child is left behind in accessing a good education.
