He said on Kastle FM that “Ex-president Rawlings is someone who didn’t take the creative arts industry for a joke. First of all, he gave MUSIGA the current office that we occupy and I do remember that he was always available for the creatives whenever we needed him.

“I remember long time ago when I was in abroad with Osibisa we all came to Ghana and we wanted to meet him as President of Ghana. He was so busy with his schedules but he managed to find time to meet us,” he added.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based Kastle FM’s Drive Time show, Bessa Simons said his fond memories of the late former President J.J. Rawlings got him impressed ever since he got to know him.

“So I was so impressed since then and also my fondest memories of him have to do with when Paapa Yankson died and we went to meet him which he welcomed us,” he stated.

He concluded “More so, when Jewel Ackah died he gave money to the family to help with the pre-burial activities and promised to be available for the funeral and indeed he was there for the funeral ceremony.

He concluded “So he’s someone who was really fond of musicians but certainly everything on this earth has a season. We plead with the almighty God to keep him safely until we meet again. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and also to Ghanaians.”
