I NEVER PAID ANY MONEY TO ASSEMBLY MEMBERS TO ENTICE THEM TO CONFIRM ME AS MCE- ERNEST ARTHUR
The Metropolitan Chief Executive for Cape Coast Hon. Ernest Arthur has debunked claims that he paid monies to some assembly members prior to his confirmation process to entice them to confirm him.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive for Cape Coast Hon. Ernest Arthur has debunked claims that he paid monies to some assembly members prior to his confirmation process to entice them to confirm him.
It could be recalled that, on the 8th of October which was Friday, some assembly members in a press conference claimed that they are returning some unspecified amount which they claimed was presented to them by Ernest Arthur, the then embattled nominee for the MCE position after he failed to secure the needed vote percentage to have him confirmed as the MCE.
The assembly members led by Usman Abban Egyir claimed that they could not allow their conscience to be bought.
Meanwhile responding to this, Hon. Ernest Arthur who was the guest on Me Man Ho Do aired on Kastle 90.3 hosted by Mr. Smile indicated that he never and had no intent to bribe any assembly member and for that matter, the so-called money which they (Assembly members) claim to have returned had never reached him till now.
He was however quick to add that, due to the good relationship he has with the assembly members which even his party faithful fight him for that, giving money to the assembly members is a ritual which he normally does whenever any of them call on him for help but not to the extent or intensions to bribe them to have him confirmed as the MCE.
He however stated that, if truth is to be told, the MP for Cape Coast South Hon. Kweku Rickett Haggan is the main brain behind all these bruhaha due to his selfish political ambitions and the development of Cape Coast.
He further went ahead to indicate that, Hon. Kweku Rickett Haggan even sent him a watsapp message claiming that it will not be easy for him to get the nod to be the MCE until they sit down and negotiate (chief congratulations, now you have gotten the 50% that I told you, you will get.
Now we need to negotiate, I told you it will not going to be straight curve for you I wish you all the best) this is the message Hon. Rickett Haggan claimed have sent to Hon. Ernest Arthur after failing to secure the needed vote in his first confirmation election.
The MCE however believe that the MP for Cape Coast South due to his political interest want to tarnish his reputation and he will not allow that to happen stating he has forgiven the assembly member and needed them on board for the progress and development of Cape Coast.
