In its judgement, the court ruled that there was no quorum formed by the Council at the said meeting it took the decision to terminate the appointment of Prof Alnaa as Vice Chancellor.

Again, the court ruled that the formation of the Special Investigative Committee, that investigated certain procurement issues, based on which a decision taken to remove the Vice Chancellor and two other officers was “illegal.”

Therefore the removal of the Prof Alnaa as Vice Chancellor and two other officers from office was also “illegal”.

In effect, the application for Certiorari, which was filed by Prof Samuel Alnaa in relation to his removal as Vice Chancellor has been fully granted by the court.

Prof. Samuel Erasmus Alnaa, and the two other senior officers of the university are therefore to return to office.

This decision by the Council took effect on June 11, 2026, but Prof Alnaa initiated a court action challenging the decision of the council.
