The member of parliament for Assin Central constituency and also aspiring NPP presidential candidate, Hon Kennedy Agyapong has shared his disappointment in some of the MPs and ministers from the Central region who through his lobbying had their positions in the current NPP government.
According to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, most of the appointments made by the Nana Addo government were done through his opinion including those in the central region.
Addressing party delegates in an interview with Nana Kweku Arhin on Kastle 90.3fm in Cape Coast, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong noted that, supporting one candidate is not something which he is worried about, but making ill comments and threatening party delegates to vote for him is what sadden him.
He stressed that this position taken by some leadership of the party does not bring healthy competition which some ministers are backing it.
According to him, he is one person who has been helping and sacrificing for the party since he joined the party and even every constituency in the Central region has benefited from him which they are paying back with evil.
He believes that this is the time his own people (the central region) support him to be the flagbearer of the party to lead them to break the eight in the 2024 general election.
He further noted that the NPP party cannot do without him with regards to winning more seats in the region but warned certain people in the party leadership to watch their step or face his wrath going into the November 4th election or he will be fired.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong was in the Central region to embark on his showdown walk which has already taken place in three regions which is the Ashanti, Greater Accra, and the Western regions.
The showdown walk is to gather support for his bid to be the flagbearer of the NPP party and eventually the president of Ghana.
In May 2022, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong announced his candidacy for the flagbearer position within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He expressed support for “Ph.D.,” which he defined as a practical rather than theoretical approach.
He explained that Ph.D. stands for patriotism, honesty, and discipline and believes these principles if embraced, can lead to significant positive changes in Ghana within his first 100 days as president.
He aims to instill these values in the people to enhance their service to the nation.
