I campaigned for Nana Addo to solve ‘dumsor’ and not to be appointed – Kaakyire Kwame Appiah

Legendary Highlife artiste, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah who campaigned vigorously for the election of President Akufo-Addo into office says his intention for doing that wasn’t to lobby for a political appointment.

Speaking on the Kastle Drive show with Amansan Krakye via Kastle FM in Cape Coast, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah said his desire for a regime change was motivated by ‘dumsor’ which was collapsing businesses during the era of Former President Mahama.

He said “I didn’t go to school with the mindset that one day I would venture into politics and go lobby for a position. Mine was that Nana Akufo-Addo that some people said he can never become a President would actually become a President and serve this country.

“And besides where the country was heading towards wasn’t the best. I’m not saying former president Mahama and Uncle Atta didn’t do anything, they did their absolute best for this country. But it got to a point where dumsor was collapsing businesses like movie and music,” he added.

“If you’d remember 2014, 2015, 2016 when you go to eat at a chop bar most of the fish they cook with had a bad stench in it. Because we didn’t have light most businesses were collapsing so at least we felt that there must be a change in government,” he remarked.

He concluded “So for me I wasn’t thinking about what I would eat alone, but for Ghana to move out of it difficulties was the reason why I campaigned for Nana Addo. So it wasn’t a political appointment that I was seeking that made me do that.”
