Naming best rappers in Ghana without my name is fraudulent and a big joke – Obibini fumes

Hip Hop lyrical monster, Obibini born David Kwaku Effum Boafo has said in an interview with Amansan Krakye that any award scheme that does not include him in the best rapper category is a joke and not worthy to come out with such a list without his name.

“They are all nonfa people because I see it to be some kind of jokes that they are out there for. They are just doing something for some business purposes,” he said on the Kastle Entertainment Show.

“I will say that they’re just playing because best rapper category without Obibini is a joke so they shouldn’t even do that category at all,” he told the host.

Speaking about why most award schemes ignore him among the list of best rappers in Ghana, Obibini revealed on Kastle FM that those who sit on the board to make such decisions don’t really know what real rap is about.

“So sometimes I believe that those who nominate these boys into rapper of the year category don’t really know what rap is about. Maybe they put some old people there who are into Highlife solely and they want to think for all the genres.”

The organizers of the annual 3Music Awards in Ghana recently announced their nomination for rapper of the year category and included in the list are Joey B, Medikal, M.anifest, Sarkodie, Strongman, Eno Barony, Amerado, Ko-Jo Cue.

“They wake up and put all these boys on and then turn to ignore the real authentic stuff. When we talk about real rap unless maybe you’re not a fun of rap so sometimes I wonder if these guys who sit on the board really know or understand rap for them to ignore my material,” he ended.
