Charging documents: Why Tyler Robinson killed Charlie Kirk? Transgender roommate told over texts that ‘some hate can’t be negotiated out’

In a phone exchange with his transgender roommate, Tyler Robinson confirmed that he was Charlie Kirk’s killer before revealing his justifications for choosing the path of violence

The charging documents against Tyler Robinson released by Utah County officials on Tuesday reportedly included details about the motive that led to his alleged murder of conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk, US media reports said.

On the day of the murder that shocked America, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson had reportedly discussed his reason for deciding to attack Kirk and the bolt-action rifle he used for the crime, among other things, the charging documents reportedly said. On the day of the shooting, Tyler Robinson texted his transgender roommate to “drop what you are doing, look under my keyboard.” When he did so, the youngster found a note there that read, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”

This prompted further texting between the two, who reportedly were romantically attached. “What??????????????” The roommate texted, before adding, “You’re joking, right????“

This invited a longer text from Robinson, who reportedly jotted, “…Shouldn’t be long until I can come home, but I’ve got to grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret until I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.”

The roommate then categorically asked Robinson if he was the one who claimed Kirk’s life, to which he confirmed that it was indeed he who pulled the trigger, CNN said in a report. “You weren’t the one who did it right????”, the roommate asked, to which Robinson reportedly jotted back, “I am, I’m sorry.”

When asked why he decided to choose such a violent act, CNN reported Robinson as explaining, “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on. I haven’t seen anything about them finding it.” He also confessed that the murder was executed following planning that took about a week, the CNN report showed.

The texts between them proved that Tyler mentioned to his roommate after the shooting that he wrapped his rifle in a towel and stashed it in some bushes near Utah Valley University. Tyler also told the roommate in writing that the rifle would have to be retrieved.

“It’s pretty clear that Robinson’s roommate knew a lot and didn’t say anything after the killing, so they’re a person of interest officially and are cooperating,” a second official said. “We want to keep it that way.”

Charlie Kirk, co-founder and head of the conservative student movement Turning Point USA and a key ally of President Donald Trump, was speaking at an event in Utah Valley University in Orem, which was attended by 3,000 people, when he was shot in broad daylight.

Who is Tyler Robinson?

Tyler Robinson was living with his family in Washington County, in southwest Utah for a long time. This is about three hours away from Utah Valley University.

According to media reports, he was a student at Utah State University. He was offered an academic scholarship to attend the Logan, Utah-based university.

Utah State University confirmed that the suspect had attended the school there. “Utah State University confirms that Tyler Robinson, the suspect arrested in the killing of Charlie Kirk, briefly attended Utah State University for one semester in 2021,” a statement from the university read.
