Kastle FM marks World Diabetes Day with free health screening exercise

Kastle FM 90.3MHz, a commercial radio outlet, subsidiary of FED Kastle Multimedia Company Limited has in conjunction with the Rotary international organised a free diabetes screening for residents of Cape Coast.

The participants were also privileged to be given the opportunity to also have their eyes screened by medical personnel from the Ghana Health Service and those with defects provided with spectacles at no cost.

The theme for World Diabetes Day 2020 is “The Nurse and Diabetes” and as part of the commemoration, it’s celebrated on November 14, every year.

The campaign aims to raise awareness around the crucial role that nurses play in supporting people living with diabetes.

During the exercise, the health officials underscored the need for people to know their diabetes status, saying, this would create more awareness amongst people who might be unaware of the effects of diabetes.

As a commercial radio station based in Cape Coast, part of Kastle FM’s corporate social responsibility is to reach out to the world through the airwaves and tell people about the disease, which if managed well could prolong lives.

The health screening which was held at the forecourt of Kastle FM, Johnston Street, Cape Coast, included, checks for blood sugar, blood pressure, weight, height and Body Mass Index (BMI).

Most of the participants that Amansan Krakye spoke with used the opportunity to thank Kastle FM for their enormous initiatives which are aimed at making the lives of the listeners better.

“Recently Kastle FM organized AsankaMu special and I was there to enjoy. Today I’m here also be given free health screening with refreshment in addition. God should continue blessing Kastle FM for thinking about us the listeners. We would always listen to Kastle FM 24/7”.
