Having dreadlocks doesn’t necessarily mean you belong to the rastafarian religion – Reggie Rockstone
Multiple award-winning Ghanaian legend, Reginald Yaw Asante Osei known in showbiz as Reggie Rockstone has revealed that though he’s having dreadlocks it doesn’t mean that he belongs to the rastafarian religion.
“Oh not at all carrying dreadlocks doesn’t mean you’re a rastafarian. My wife is not a rastafarian, me myself I’m not a rastafarian and my children are also not rastafarians.”
Most people normally perceive those who are seen having dreadlocks as rastafarians but Reggie Rockstone claims having dreadlocks has more to do with being a proud African with natural hair than belonging to the rasta religion.
Speaking with Amansan Krakye on the Kastle Drive show via Kastle FM in Cape Coast, Reggie Rockstone remarked that his entire family are having dreadlocks to portray their love for Africa but that doesn’t mean they are rastafarians.
“My sister is also not a rastafarian but rather we’re proud Africans. We’re proud black Africans who like to wear our hair natural, that’s it.”
Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum recently said that whilst others are going to Mars, Ghanaians are wasting precious time discussing hair-related issues following the refusal of the Achimota School to admit students with dreadlocks.
