THERE IS THE NEED TO INVEST IN TVET-Dr.PATRICK ESSIEN TO GOV’T

Partnerships are very key to addressing challenges among young people and ultimately improving development outcomes, as such we at Curious Minds Ghana continue to explore ways to leverage all relevant institutions and sustain conversations with the stakeholders needed to positively impact the lives of children and youth, especially in Ghana.

Dr Patrick Essien (Lecturer and Research Scientist, Department of Physics, UCC) and CEO of Molex Foundation Africa has disclosed the need to invest in Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Ghana, and why we need to prioritize it to support development efforts.

According to Dr Patrick Essien the country needs to focus more on technical, vocational and Science than the arts that usually produce students who only focus on white-collar jobs. There are more opportunities in these areas of study, Government should prioritize providing the needed tools and equipment for skills development in all schools.

He added that, There is a misconception that those who go to technical and vocational schools are not academically good. He debunked this misconception while citing his personal experience as a product of Asuansi Technical school

The need for intentional reproductive health education in schools to help improve health challenges among students and equip them to make well-informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive lives he added.
