The current generation of artistes have taken Ghana music very far – Sonni Balli humbly admits

Veteran Ghanaian Dancehall pioneer, Sonni Balli born Sonny Kwabena Amoako Akoanor has lavished praises on the current generation of young artistes for taking the music industry to another level.

Sonni Balli revealed to Amansan Krakye on Kastle FM that what makes Ghana music unique is the infusion of our local dialects and instruments into the songs we produce.

“The music we’re selling out there is good and it’s even more great by the fact that we have localized it. We’ve kind of fixed our local dialects in the songs and it’s not a complete foreign tone but we’ve also got our local instruments in the songs.”

Sonni Balli was asked by Amansan Krakye on Kastle Drive to give his opinion on the current crop of artistes we have in the Ghana music industry and the kinds of song they produce.

He remarked “There’s been massive improvement musically and generally we’re improving. But in terms dancehall a few of them have been able to make an impact internationally where the rest of the world is looking at Ghana differently.

He continued “I think that where the current generation has gotten Ghana music to in terms of reggae dancehall it’s big, they’ve gone far and I won’t lie.”
